The 67th Thessaloniki Film Festival is one of the most significant film events in Greece, drawing creators and audiences to the city of Thessaloniki.

From November 5 to 15, 2026, the festival will host a rich program of screenings, events, and tributes. As happens every year, filmmakers, local festival enthusiasts, organizers, visitors, guests, and volunteers are ready for this great celebration of cinema in Thessaloniki.

One of the key sections of this year’s event is the Podcast Section, aimed at creators from Greece and abroad. It includes a Competition Section featuring a "Best Podcast" award worth €2,000, as well as the Nexus section, which showcases distinctive works. The selected podcasts—lasting 20–30 minutes—will be presented online and must make their world premiere at the festival.

Additionally, the "ENS Louis Lumière – French Institute of Greece Award-Scholarship for an Emerging Audio Documentary Creator" is being offered in collaboration with the Louis Lumière School and the French Institute of Greece.

The festival will present an Honorary Golden Alexander to acclaimed director Nikos Grammatikos in recognition of his overall contribution to cinema. As part of this major tribute, all his feature and short films will be screened, and an open discussion with the audience will take place. Furthermore, the book *Apontes* (The Absent) by Theodosis Michos will be presented, and the films *Apontes* and *Nychtoloulouda* (Night Flowers) will be screened with universal accessibility features. The special edition "Proto Plano" (Close-up) will also be dedicated to Nikos Grammatikos.

The 67th Festival will also host the multi-award-winning Galician director, screenwriter, and actor Oliver Laxe—creator of the film *Sirãt*, which was adored by audiences and critics alike and stood out as one of the most captivating cinematic experiences of recent years. The Festival is organizing a major tribute titled "Welcome to the Desert" and has invited Laxe to serve as guest curator, selecting 17 films set in a landscape that has gifted us unforgettable cinematic masterpieces. Additionally, Oliver Laxe will give a fascinating open talk shedding light on his artistic journey and the creative process behind his films, while the Festival will also release a special bilingual publication dedicated to the tribute.

Venue: The event will take place at the Thessaloniki Port venues, the Olympion theater, pavilions at Aristotelous Square, and the warehouses. This year offers an opportunity to discover groundbreaking filmmakers, original tributes, the best of independent cinema, nearly all of the year's Greek productions, new initiatives within the Agora, and various parallel events.
